Vizag Airport runway work completed ahead of schedule

Visakhapatnam: Head of Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar on Monday said as per promise given by them last year, they had completed the long overdue runway resurfacing work at the Visakhapatnam Airport, by March 24 15 days before time, with minimal disruption to civil flights.

He said, "We are thankful to the Airport Director, all flight operators and the Airports Authority of India, for their understanding, cooperation and support. Our capability enhancement plans also seek to promote the government’s vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India), and the Indian Navy has undertaken a wide array of initiatives that focus on developing indigenous technologies and reducing dependency on foreign imports."
